MOGADISHU, Somalia, May 24, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry of National Security has announced that suspicious bullets opened by military left Federal Member of Parliament late Yusuf Dirir Abdi dead on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.

A spokesman for the ministry Mohamed Yusuf Osman told the media in Mogadishu that irresponsible military forces in armored vehicle fired bullets at the car on Maka Al Mukarama road, killing MP along with his driver and wounding a bodyguard in what he described ‘accidental gunfire’.

“The speedy car carrying MPs and travelling on Maka Al Mukarama hotel was trailed by military vehicle. It was pimped out on suspicion but MPs car didn’t give clear lane to the trailing armored vehicle,” said Osman, adding that government forces drove past and sprayed the car carrying MPs with bullets.

Moreover, Mogadishu-based federal government official disclosed that six fleeing soldiers within the military were wounded in pursuit by intelligence officers right away.

Al though Al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the deadly shooting, he ruled out possible planned assassination.

An oversight committee is said to have been ordered to conclude investigation into the incident in specified duration.

Somali MPs and security officials have been a target for Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militants in volatile Mogadishu.
