ADADO, Somalia, April 30, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Clan elders, and two central state formation signatories have dissolved technical committee for allegedly refusing to vet delegates to the ongoing convention in Galgadud region town, Adado on Wednesday, Garowe Online reports.

Elder Abdinasir Jama Seed said on VOA Somali Service that the decision to disband the committee members came after they denied delegates representing North Mudug entry into the convenion.

Adado clan elders accused Mogadishu-based federal government of meddling in the state formation process and tampering with.

In reaction at the unilateral dissolution, Interior Ministry said in statement that central state technical committee has a full right to exercise duties without manipulation.

“The Ministry warns some of the presidential candidates against exerting influence over technical committee, and at the same time asks them to respect the smooth progress of the convention,” read the statement from the Internal Affairs Ministry.

Halima Ismael heads central state formation conference technical committee.

Abdikarin Hussein Guled, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s close ally and former national security minister who resigned over incompetence has announced his bid for presidency earlier last week.

On April 16, the convention kicked off in the central town with President Mohamud, UN envoy Ambassador Nicholas Kay, IGAD’s Mohamed Abdi Afey, and Turkish and Ugandan envoys present.

The absence of North Mudug delegates is believed to have compelled the clan elders to the dissolution of technical committee.
