Somalia: Twin explosions in Mogadishu, four killed

MOGADISHU, Somalia-Two bomb blasts have occurred in Mogadishu, leaving three police officers and female restaurateur dead on Wednesday morning, Garowe Online reports.

The first explosion ripped through a restaurant used by police officers in Mogadishu’s Abdiasis district according to officials and witnesses.

Many civilians wounded in the blast were admitted to health centers in Mogadishu.

Another bomb laden in three-wheeled motorbike model, Bajaj went off in Waaberi district in dawn, with security sources saying, the attack was foiled right away.

Banadir regional police commissioner, Gen. Ali Hirsi Ali (Gaab), has confirmed that security agencies are holding a suicide bomber critically injured in car bomb in Abdiasis.

“Approximately, at 4:00 AM, the security forces on 21st October road seized a Bajaj with three assailants on board, one of them is being held while two others managed to flee,” he further disclosed.

Al Shabaab militants have stepped up terror attacks in extremely volatile Mogadishu, targeting military targets and soft structures.

Somali government forces aided by African Union peacekeepers dislodged Al Shabaab fighters from a string of strategic towns in central and southern Somalia as a result of coordinated onslaught.
