MOGADISHU, Somalia- Somalia's Minister of Internal security Mohamed Abukar Islow has taken over the office on Tuesday at a handover ceremony held in the capital Mogadishu, Garowe Online reports.

Speaking at the event attended by high-ranking Federal government officials, Islow has announced new plans to enforce security in Somalia's capital Mogadishu and restore peace and stability into the entire country.  The Minister of Security has code-named the new plans "Mogadishu stabilization."

"I will introduce new security plans to secure Somalia, and begin with Mogadishu. I appeal to the public to work with security agencies on the stabilization of the country," said Islow.

On the other hand, the Minister called on the young youth fighting for Al Shabaab, to abandon the group, denounce violence and join in the ongoing efforts to rebuild the country.

The new Security Minister takes the office as Mogadishu is beset by sporadic attacks and organized assassinations from Al Shabaab militants who want to overthrow the UN-backed Somali government.
