Somaliland President announces sweeping reshuffle

HARGEISA, Somaliland-Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud (Silanyo) has made sweeping cabinet reshuffle, sacking, reappointing and promoting officials in his government on Monday, Garowe Online reports.

In a presidential decree revealed to GO, Civil Aviation Minister Osman Abdullahi Sahardid moved to Information docket, replacing new Animal Husbandry Minister Abdullahi Mohamed Dahir (Ukuse).

Omar Sheikh Mohamud Farah vacated to Ukuse, and held a post as Civil Aviation Minister. Besides, presidential spokesman Hussein Adan Ige has been promoted as Minister of Commerce.

Several Deputy Ministers and parastatals heads have been sacked in the sweeping cabinet shuffle, while other deputies ascended to be Ministers of State.

Hamse Mohamed Ali has been assigned to Gabiley Governorship, with outgoing Gabiley Governor now serving in Sool according to the decree.

Abdirahman Aw Elmi Farah has been named to press secretary office at Somaliland presidency.

The cabinet reshuffle follows a trip east by President Silanyo over a few weeks ago.
