Somalia: President Farmajo condemns Egypt mosque bombing

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attack that hit a mosque in northern Sinai area of Egypt on Friday, killing at least 235 people, Garowe Online reports.

More than 109 others were injured in the bloody attack in Egypt, the deadliest terrorist atrocity in a single day in the country's modern history.

In a statement released by Villa Somalia, President Farmajo said that Somalia sincerely shares the sorrow of friendly and brotherly people of Egypt, wishing Allah’s mercy on those who lost their lives and speedy recovery to the injured people.

"On behalf of myself and the people of the Federal Republic of Somalia the pain with the government of Egypt and the families of all those affected by the vicious massacre against the Muslim worshippers in Al-Rawdah mosque during Friday prayers," Farmajo said.

Somali President said that his Federal Government will continue to stand united with Egypt in the face of terrorism and defeat extremism in all its forms.

The Egyptian presidency, meanwhile, has declared a three-day countrywide mourning for the victims. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
