Somalia leaders attend Jubaland President Inauguration

KISMAYO, Somalia, September 12, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Inaugural ceremony staged for newly re-elected President of Jubaland Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) attracted Somalia’s political leadership, foreign delegations and international community representatives in the southern port city of Kismayo on Thursday, Garowe Online reports.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, Puntland’s Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, Southwest state’s Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan, Galmudug leader Abdikarin Hussein Gulled, Ethiopian Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom, Majority Leader in Kenyan national assembly Adan Du’alle, United Nations envoy to Somalia Ambassador Nicholas Kay,IGAD representative Mohamed Abdi Afey and Turkish envoy attended the inauguration.

Local bands took to the stage, singing for prosperous and stronger Jubaland.

Officials who spoke at the colourful event in Kismayo congratulated Madobe on becoming the southern state’s president for the second time.

On August 15, inaugurated Jubaland President won with 68 votes, scoring landslide first-round victory against two contenders-Hilowle Adan Mohamed and Osman Hussein Haji.
